I was practicing some photography last week and was attempting to take a closeup of this flower.  For some odd reason my camera just did not want to stay focused.  No matter what I did, the image came out fuzzy.  It made my head hurt just to look at it.

The Lord used that moment to remind me how my life has gotten out of focus lately. I’ve been overwhelmed with many things to the point that my life has become a little fuzzy, out of focus.  In fact, in some instances it has resulted in a physical and a spiritual headache.

Keeping our focus is difficult in this world.  The busyness of life brings so many distractions: husbands, children, family, homemaking, work, money, television, sports, food, volunteering, electronic devices, social media, and the list goes on and on.  All of these things can be good and beneficial, but not when they become the primary focus of our lives.

These blessings and beneficial opportunities, earthly things, can cause our minds to fog and our vision to blur.  We scurry around rushing from activity to activity.  We focus on working because we desperately need the finances.  We worry about situations that are out of our control.  We make excuses for why we can’t spend time in the Word, communicating with The Father in prayer, and worshiping in His house.

We lose sight of what is important.  Allowing ourselves to fall for the lies and distractions of satan, we pick up these things and run with them on our own even though we just can’t see clearly own the path we are headed.  When we do our entire lives become one big blur with no destination, no purpose, no focus.  Eventually running toward a subject that is out of focus can cause a collision of sorts.

I need to remember to focus my eyes on God and His Kingdom.  I need to give Him all of these other things.  I cannot bring them into focus on my own.  I need Him to do what only He can.  Go back through the scrapbook of your life and remember the times you’ve tried to be the artist of your life. Now consider those times when you’ve allowed The Creator to take over.  When I’ve concentrated on Him, everything else has always fallen into focus much better than I could have ever imagined.  In His time, He develops a sharp, clear, beautifully colored by The Creator.

With all of the distractions the enemy has been hurling at me lately, I know I need to refocus. I created this lovely printable from scriptures to motivate and encourage me to stay focused. I pray it does the same for you. Please feel free to download this free gift from me to you.

Love and blessings,
